Frank McAllen, Assistant Superintendent
What is the most exciting thing about working in this business?
What I love about construction, is that are new opportunities to learn EVERYDAY! Each assignment is unique and comes with different responsibilities. Projects are like a constantly evolving puzzle where bringing together separate parts and pieces ends up beautiful upon completion. The challenge of seeing things to fruition is the fun part. There is never a dull moment in construction.
What is your philosophy about giving back to the community?
Some of the best times I have had in life was volunteering as a youth basketball coach. I coached my daughter and others for the city of Chino, California for 5 seasons. We were undefeated all 5 seasons. The best part of being a coach was the satisfaction from giving these kids a foundation of confidence to deal with adversity, not just when they are playing sports, but believing in themselves and learning how to handle themselves in the real world, when it really matters.
Name a technology innovation that has made an impact in construction or an area where there are opportunities for innovation.
Tutorial apps! You can literally learn anything at any time using the internet. From operating machinery, to creating spreadsheets that perform calculations automatically, to apps that help to simplify construction tasks and document/monitor progress. I have also been able to use apps in my field to complete OSHA safety training and project superintendent and management training.
Tell us an awesome fact about yourself or the role you have in the company.
Working as a superintendent for a minority-owned company, I take pride in my team. Collectively, we are able to cover a wide range of territory, from the DFW Metroplex to Louisiana, handling tasks all over the region. My team works well together to complete tasks with the highest level of expectations, and I can rest assured knowing I can trust my team to get the job done collaboratively.
