What is the most exciting thing about working in this business?
Bringing a lot of parts together to make a finished product. A slab, a roof, a finished-out room, or the completed building. Driving by a finished building and saying I built that or worked on that.
What is your philosophy about giving back to the community?
I believe in giving back to my community. I have been a founding member of a youth sports association, Volunteer fireman, worked on clean-up and public works. Now I am on the City of Godley’s City Council trying to control growth and keep Godley Texas the semi-rural friendly town it is.
Name a technology innovation that has made an impact in construction or an area where there are opportunities for innovation.
Two innovations come to mind: communication, from a pager and a roll of quarters to computers and BIM. I believe communication will continue to grow. I see Lasers as innovations that have had the most impact in the field. Lasers affect every construction trade and have made underground work better, dirt work more precise, slabs flatter, and buildings better.
Tell us an awesome fact about yourself or the role you have in the company.
I started in the construction field as a laborer for a GC and a Masonry Company. Went through a Carpenter Apprentice program. Basically, I went from sweeping the floor to building a Community College Campus and more.
